New Years Eve/ Happy New Year

As the guns fired and the horn played the send off song I stood a proud daughter thinking about my dad on New year's eve. Yes, I was a little sad but inside I was happy that my dad was getting the service befitting the man he was. He served his country and he took care of his family. He was a giving and loving man. Yes he could be serious and stern at times but he had a loving heart. Your daughter will always be proud of you Daddy. I love you. Later after we left mom's house we came home and I made a trip to the market for some black eyed peas and extra sharp cheddar cheese. We quietly ushered in a new year at home safe and sound. On New Year's day I made a crock pot full of Black eyed peas, macaroni and cheese, stuffing, biscuits and fried pork chops and some cranberry sauce. We were all grateful to be alive in a New Year.
