New Year, New Decade

Welcome 2020, I am so grateful to still be here. What a turning point it was the night of December 31, 2019. Moving forward by the Grace of God we all left behind many things from 2001-2019. A new decade dawned upon us January 1, 2020. In the scope of those ten years many lives changed, some good things and some bad things have transpired but all in all they are left behind in the last decade, some remain a memory and some we would soon forget because we are moving forward in life and trying to live the best we know how. All in all we are grateful to still be here, another day, another chance to do better and make a difference in our life and the lives of others.

Christmas 2019 was FANTASTIC! This Country Living Grandma was grateful to have all her family around her for the Thanksgiving/Christmas Holiday. There was lots of food and so much joy that filled the inner walls of my home. To God be the Glory, I am grateful for the new set of memories that are still fresh in my mind from these two gatherings. I am looking forward to the Holidays to roll around again this year. 90% of my Christmas decor has been put away and some Valentine decor is now displayed where Christmas was displayed for the past two months. Christmas is my favorite time of year and I am always emotional to see it come and go so quickly. It seems like the world cant wait to box it back up and put it away for another 10 months but until then we countdown to Christmas 2020. I enjoyed all the Hallmark Christmas movies from October 25-January 5th. My tv stayed on the three Hallmark Channels.

As we continue on through the first month of our new decade may your home and life be filled with love and may you and your family stay safe here in the earth. We are living in perilous times and we need to stick together, pray and look out for one another.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another... John 13:34

Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing...1 Peter 3:8-9

Thank you for stopping by,
Peace and Blessings,
Country Living Grandma

Christmas 2018

This post is about 44 days late but better late than never. December was a busy month for me and I didn't get a chance to update my blog last month. God is good and he takes care of me and my family. Storms in life will come but God's Grace will help you get through them all. The enemy is busy but he is not as powerful as God, even he has limitations because he too is in subjection to God. I thank God for a wonderful holiday season spent with my loved ones. Again I say, Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Praise him all creatures here below! Give credit where credit is do and I give it all to God. I thank him for Life, his Grace and Mercy, for my family, my health and strength and for his protection and provision. I would be nothing and have nothing without him. I always hate to see Christmas disappear from the world on the 26th of December. I try to keep it with me even after Christmas is over. To me its indeed the most wonderful time of the year. It was a pleasure to cook for my family and watch them eat up everything, lol. Their joy is my joy and I am grateful to God for them all. I enjoy the decorating and the baking because I know my family loves it all. I look forward to the Hallmark Christmas movies every year and the many cartoons and specials that are on tv during the month of November and December. I have many favorites. I thank God for another blessed holiday season.

Let me leave you a word of encouragement. ----Trust God in all things, live by faith not by sight. Pray continuously believing that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. They may form but God wont let them prosper. Believe in the promises of God and what he will do on your behalf. Be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.  Don't get it twisted you cant plot evil against others and expect to be blessed. Remember God sees and knows everything, so choose right. Two wrongs never make a right so be the one who chooses right, don't block your own blessings.

Remember God loves you and you show him your love back by doing what he wants you to do and he wants us to love one another.

Grateful, Grateful that's what I am!

Greetings bloggers and visitors its been a while since I made a blog entry. Fall is here, Thanksgiving is a week away and I am looking forward to the 2018 holidays. My halls are decked and I have some Thanksgiving goodies in the freezer. I tell you I am thankful for today, my family, a roof over my head, food on my table and for my health and strength. God is good. He is keeping me, I had another birthday two months ago and I am just enjoying life and taking each day as it comes being grateful for what is and what is not.

Those who know me know I love to decorate and I love the holidays, so the two go hand in hand with me. I am grateful for God's love and the love of my family and friends. As I wind down this evening after dinner I am enjoying the glow throughout my home from all the lights and candles. My tv has been steadfast on the Hallmark Channel whose countdown to Christmas began October 26th. Each day I wake up to the movies and go to sleep to the movies. I look forward to them every year. It is a distraction from all the turmoil in the world. Its sad that the love and compassion that most of these movies are filled with cant been seen and heard of more in present day society. If we could only have peace on earth and peace within our homes. I try to let it be just that in my home. Life is too short for drama and discord. Peace and Love is what I pray the Lord keeps in my home.

As the holidays get closer and closer I pray for traveling mercies for you all and joy and happiness within the walls of your home and everywhere you venture this holiday season. Pray everyday and cover yourself and your family and treasure each moment you get to spend together.  This year will be the 5th Thanksgiving without my Dad and the 6th Christmas. I miss him daily but the memories that I have of him and the time he was with our family keeps me going. I carry him with me. I do and experience life for the both of us after all he is a part of me.

Thank you for all who continue to stop by and view my blog. I appreciate you and I hope that when you leave you will leave with a little added joy in your heart and encouragement to take with you.

Blessings to you and your family,
Country Living Grandma

Christmas Joy

I declare its nothing like Christmas to me. I love vacations at the shore but I say nothing tops the Joy of the Christmastime season for me. Listening to Christmas music on Pandora, watching the Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channels, decorating the house, cooking and baking and spending time with family and friends. Its the best. It's a time of reflection and being grateful for the greatest gift given by our Father in Heaven, his son, Jesus. We are often flooded with memories of Christmases past and of those who were with us and are not presently so for some it can be bittersweet but we think about the good times in which they were here. I love the smells of Christmas, the pine trees, the cookies and cakes baking, the turkey and ham roasting, the scented candles and potpourri. I love the smell of cinnamon, citrus and cloves but most of all I love the spirit in the air and the more pleasant attitudes of many. The city is all light up. Every year we go to the Light show and the Dickens A Christmas Carol show upstairs in Macy's (formally John Wanamaker). The joy and wonder of the holidays have always excited me. I wish it could be Christmas everyday, not from a commercial aspect but from a loving and giving aspect and I am not talking about presents. I hope everyone had a beautiful holiday. I thank God mine was filled with treasured memories made of the time spent with those I love and cherish. Wishing you all joy and happiness this holiday season and the coming New Year.

Annual Holiday Traditions

I am so glad that I again got to see the light show at Macy's and visit the German Christmas Craft fair and see the Dicken's Christmas Carol Animated Show. It makes my Christmas every year to engage to holiday activities and gather with those I love.
