My grandmother....

The month of July was a bittersweet month for us this year for we lost our beloved grandmother. It was even hard for me to have to add her picture to this heart ornament and hang her on the tree with my other three grandparents who passed aways years ago. We will miss her so much. This holiday will be a little somber in her absence but we must go on and continue to be strong for one another. I know it is what she would want. She was a loving grandmother who loved her children, grands, and great-grands. I still remember when I was little and loved spending the night at grandmom and grandpop's. She only lived a few blocks away from us but spending the night there was still like a whole new world. She would fix us girls sausage and pancakes for breakfast to be washed down with a cold glass of milk. Grandpop owned a store so at night when he would come home from work he would bring us a bunch of goodies from the store to munch on as we watched our favorite programs on tv until we just fell asleep at night. Sometimes after work grandpop would take the five of us to Snockey's Oyster and Crab House a well know seafood place in S. Philly to enjoy a delicious meal. Through the years there was a lot of love given and holidays and special days shared with these two special people whose first love was family. I miss my grandmother's smile, voice, and her singing around the house which she often did as she went about her daily duties. She would always be singing hymns about Jesus and she could really sing too. I miss them both and am grateful to God that I had the two of them for grandparents.
